The head of the Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, revealed important details regarding the recovery of those accused in corruption cases and the recovery of funds.

Judge Hanoun said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Within a year, the Commission was able to return 18 defendants and convicts who had escaped outside Iraq, and we are currently coordinating the return of 15 defendants who were diagnosed,” pointing out that “the UAE will hand over to us an accused, who is Nawras Abdel Razzaq, Director of Health.” A former Babylonian whose procedures have been completed and the extradition decision has been issued, but he is still hiding in the Emirates, and once he is arrested, he will be handed over to the Iraqi Interpol and to the committee that we will send to the Emirates.”
He added, “Hamdiya al-Jaf’s files are under completion. She has 17 files and the funds she owed to Iraq amount to two billion US dollars. Currently, 5 files have been completed and one file is sufficient to recover and prosecute her.”
He stressed that “there are defendants in Syria and Saudi Arabia, as well as defendants in other countries,” indicating that “it was started in the Republic of Turkey, which has 101 defendants wanted in Iraq for corruption crimes. There were 102. One named (Kassar) was extradited, whose sentence in absentia was upheld for 7 years, and it was Director of the Agricultural Bank in Anbar, there is a large amount of money in his possession, and we are currently working to recover 101 defendants in Turkey, in addition to a lot of money.”
He pointed out that “Integrity is working on two lines, the first is combating post-2003 corruption and the second is the files for recovering pre-2003 funds, given that the Commission is the head of the Iraq Money Recovery Fund.”
He continued, “In both lines, there is money in Turkey regarding the previous regime as well as after 2003,” calling on “the Iraqi citizen to provide information wherever he may be to reach the corrupt accused at home and abroad.”
The head of the Integrity Commission praised “the efforts of the Iraqi diplomatic missions that work very effectively and efforts to combat corruption. Points of view have been brought closer and understanding agreements have been concluded with many countries,” stressing that “a memorandum of understanding has been completed with China and the memorandum will be held in Iraq, as well as another important memorandum of understanding that will be held to bring points of understanding closer.” Considering a number of countries.”
