The Presidency of the Republic published excerpts from an interview with President Rashid with the CNN economic station, which was received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), in which he said, “Our primary focus is on security and stability in the country, and without it, we will not accomplish anything.”
He added, “The government has made progress in the security file, and handed over internal security in a number of governorates to the police after the army was responsible for internal security for years.”
He continued, “Foreign investments and revitalizing the economy are among the priorities of the Presidency of the Republic and the Iraqi government to solve the structural imbalances that the country has suffered from for long periods due to wars, terrorism, and instability.”
The President of the Republic said, “We need international support and the support of friendly countries in order to encourage investments and participation in projects, as there are important and large investments in Iraq. We have agreements with Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Qatar, China, most friendly countries and some European countries such as France and Britain, whether in the energy sector or other sectors.” .
The President of the Republic stressed in his speech, “Our water problem lies in the fact that most of our resources come from abroad, especially Turkey and then Iran, and the policies of neighboring countries have a major impact on the amount of water we get, and there are natural factors such as rain, snow, and temperature that affect the quantity and quality of water we get.” Iraq is the fifth country most at risk from climate change.”
He added, “Our management of water resources is a very important factor. There has been neglect in all economic aspects, as well as infrastructure, and water management has also been neglected. We need a large number of dams, the use of modern irrigation methods, and cooperation to reduce water waste.”
