Baghdad/Nina/ The Federal Integrity Commission reported the issuance of a court ruling to imprison the former director of the Karkh Martyrs Directorate. Because he caused a serious error, he caused damage to the funds and interests of the entity for which he worked.
The Authority’s Government Media and Communications Office indicated in a statement that the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court had issued an in-person ruling ordering the imprisonment of the former director of the Karkh Martyrs’ Directorate, stating: “The convict had violated his job duties by committing a serious mistake represented by not following up on the bank statement reconciliation procedures for the Shuhada’ Directorate.” Al-Karkh, and failure to open a due diligence investigation, after the officials of the Accounts Division and the Payroll Unit, “fugitives whose papers were dispersed,” transferred an amount from the directorate’s account to their own account after fabricating forged letters allegedly issued by the Karkh Martyrs’ Directorate and Al-Rafidain Bank.
He added, “The court, after reviewing the evidence obtained in the case, represented by the statements of the legal representatives of the Martyrs Foundation and Al-Rafidain Bank, the report of the External Audit Division of the Integrity Commission, the administrative investigation completed by the Martyrs Foundation, and the testimony of the defendants whose papers were separated, found it sufficient and convincing to convict the accused, so it decided to sentence him to simple imprisonment in his presence.” Based on the provisions of Article (341) of the Penal Code, giving the right to the injured party to demand compensation before the civil courts.”/End 8
