According to the Spanish newspaper “Marca”, French left-back Ferland Mendy is not guaranteed a place in coach Carlo Ancelotti’s plans for the future.
The newspaper explained, “This matter is not due to Ancelotti himself, who has good confidence in the player’s abilities, but rather because of the desire of the club, which sees this summer as a good opportunity to sell him, with only one season remaining until the end of his contract.”
The newspaper noted, “Real Madrid is already considering signing Canadian Alphonso Davies, Bayern Munich’s left back, but that depends on Mendy’s future.”
Accordingly, Real Madrid will wait to see whether Mendy is a regular player in the France national team during the Euro, and if that happens with Ancelotti’s support, the club could make the decision to renew the player.
French left-back Ferland Mendy played a vital role with Real Madrid during the past season, and contributed strongly to achieving the La Liga and Champions League titles, but his contract expires in the summer of 2025.
