The death of Egyptian singer and composer Mohamed Rahim was announced today, Saturday, after a struggle with illness, and a large number of artists were quick to mourn him and express their shock at his death.
Rahim was scheduled to be buried this afternoon, but suddenly the artist Tamer Hosni announced that the funeral and burial were postponed indefinitely. A member of his family revealed the existence of a criminal suspicion, which prompted the funeral to be postponed and to be referred to forensic medicine.
Local media reported that Rahim’s brother filed a report with the police stating that his brother was suspected of having died criminally inside his residence in the Hadayek Al-Ahram area in Giza. The examination revealed that the body was in a swollen state with severe “blueness” on the face, scratches and bruises on the mouth and leg, and traces of blood on the nose. He was transferred to the hospital at the disposal of the Public Prosecution.
The prosecution directed that the body be presented to the Forensic Medicine Department to conduct an autopsy and confirm the cause of death if there was a criminal suspicion. It also ordered the apartment to be seized for examination by forensic experts. Meanwhile, the security services are conducting intensive investigations to quickly uncover the circumstances and details of the incident.
The prosecution requested that the composer’s family members and a number of those close to him be summoned to hear their statements about his recent circumstances. It also directed that surveillance cameras around the house be examined to detect any suspicious movements before his death.
The prosecution assigned the investigations to investigate the last person who communicated with the composer and his psychological and social condition in the days preceding the accident.
The late Muhammad Rahim recently suffered a heart attack, as a result of which he was admitted to the hospital to install stents and perform a heart catheterization. He was discharged from the hospital after the operation, and he reassured his fans and followers of his health condition through a video clip that he posted on his Facebook account.
