The US Ambassador to Iraq, Elena Romanowski, confirmed today, Monday, that the United States has taken vital positions to reduce the regional escalation with Iraq, while indicating that the agreement to end the presence of the international coalition in Iraq is in place, while adhering to the timings.
Romanowski said, in an interview with a number of media outlets, “I will leave Iraq soon and it was an honor to serve in this country, and everyone knows about the electoral promises, and in the end the new presidency will make the right decisions,” adding that “the transition phase of the international coalition during the previous years He asked us to help Iraq eliminate ISIS, and we discussed during the previous days about repositioning after the end of ISIS.”
Romanowski pointed out that “the international coalition is continuing with Iraq after the defeat of ISIS, and we reached an agreement to move and end the presence in the year 2025,” indicating that “the agreement is in place in implementation while adhering to the timings, and this allows the deepening of bilateral relations between Iraq and the countries of the international coalition.”
The American ambassador added, “There is confidence in Iraqi banks and their progress forward in order to carry out economic and financial reforms and improve the banking sector,” pointing out that “relations between the United States and Iraq are developing significantly, and the strategic framework agreement is comprehensive and not just security-related.”
The American ambassador stated, “The United States is committed with Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to support Iraq, attract investments from all countries, and make Iraq more attractive by encouraging businessmen to invest in it.”
She pointed out, “There has been an increase in American investments inside Iraq and the opening of a number of registered brands against the backdrop of the visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister to America accompanied by a delegation of Iraqi businessmen and investors,” based that “there is gradual economic development and investment, which is a good indicator for the Iraqi economy.”
Romanowski confirmed, “The administration of US President Joe Biden has taken vital positions to reduce the regional escalation towards Iraq,” noting “an increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza with the Biden government’s efforts to reduce the escalation.”
She continued, “Iraq does not want to be drawn into the conflict, nor do the Iraqi government nor the Iraqi people want that. Therefore, we will spare no effort to achieve calm.”
Regarding the Kurdistan Parliament elections, “the American Ambassador praised the conduct of the electoral process in the region, while urging the formation of the government as soon as possible to provide services to citizens and approve important laws.”
