There are doubts about Ten Hag’s ability to retain his position for another season, in light of the team’s failure to qualify for the Champions League next season, in addition to its disastrous results in most tournaments, with the exception of its qualification for the Federation Cup final.
Despite this, Ten Hag said, in statements highlighted by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano: “I expect to continue as coach of Manchester United next year.”
He added: “I signed a long-term contract, and I am not someone who leaves midway.”
When asked whether he had received calls from Ajax Amsterdam officials to return him to coach the team, he replied: “No… but in the future, why not? It is a wonderful club, and I spent wonderful times there.”
It is noteworthy that Ten Hag took over as coach of the Red Devils in the summer of 2022, and winning the English League Cup title was his most important achievement last season.
