The Iranian Foreign Ministry denied the news that claimed that “Russia suspended Iran’s membership in the BRICS group.”
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said, according to Tasnim News Agency, in response to these allegations: “It is not true.. This is false news.”
Kanaani added that restoring Iran’s relations with neighboring countries, joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS group, and supporting multipolarity contributed to preparing the ground for the new government to enter into negotiations to lift sanctions.
At the beginning of this year, the BRICS group now includes Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, in addition to Russia, Brazil, India, China, and South Africa.
BRICS represents 45% of the world’s population and 36% of global GDP, more than the G7’s 30%.
