In a phone call with his British counterpart, David Cameron, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian criticized Britain’s silence and failure to condemn the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
The Iranian Foreign Minister confirmed during the phone call on Thursday that Tehran did not seek to stir up tension in the region, that Israel is responsible for the tension, and that the silence of the United States and Britain means encouraging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to continue igniting and expanding the war in the region.
The Iranian IRNA news agency reported that the two ministers discussed the latest developments in the region and relations between the two countries in a phone call that was initiated by the British side.
The Iranian Foreign Minister stressed the need to immediately stop genocide and war crimes in Gaza and the West Bank as the only way to return peace to the region.
Abdullahian said that the roots of the crisis and tension in the Middle East are not in the Red Sea, but in the genocide in Gaza, stressing that the lack of self-restraint leads to the spread of conflicts in the region.
In reference to the existing tensions in the region, the British Foreign Secretary called on Iran to exercise restraint and stressed that the lack of restraint on the part of all parties could lead to further expansion of conflicts in the region.
Cameron also expressed his concern about continuing tension in the Red Sea, and noted that the United States had presented a ceasefire plan, which was possible if the other side agreed.
