The representative of the supreme religious authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalai, stressed today, Sunday, that Ashura must be a season for reforming hearts and protecting our society from infiltration.
Al-Karbalai said in a speech during the flag replacement ceremony, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Ashura season must be a season for reforming hearts and protecting our society from infiltration.”
He added, “We appreciate the role of the Husseini processions and organizations, and we call on believers not to let the Ashura ceremonies clash with prayer times.”
This evening, Sunday, the ceremony of replacing the flags began at the holy shrines of Imam Hussein and Al-Abbas, heralding the arrival of the month of Muharram of the Hijri year 1446.
The replacement ceremony was held in the holy Husseini shrine in the presence of religious figures and a large gathering of believers amidst an atmosphere of sorrow, marking the beginning of the season of grief and mourning for the family of the Chosen One for the martyrdom of Abu Abdullah, his family and his companions on the day of Ashura, the tenth of Muharram.
