Baghdad /Nina/ Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, stressed the necessity of adhering to the national identity and implementing the constitution, while noting: “The uprising of the people of Kurdistan is a historical event and an important turning point in Iraq and the region.”
Abdullah said, in a statement: “We remember, with great pride and pride, the great sacrifices of the liberation movement of the Kurdish people in combating the former regime and its followers from the chauvinist Baath, and with all courage for the sake of salvation from injustice and tyranny and obtaining their legitimate rights.”
He added: “The uprising of the people of Kurdistan with the heroic Peshmerga, which began on March 5, 1991 in the Rania district of Sulaymaniyah Governorate, embodied the pinnacle of cohesion among the people of Kurdistan, and a historical event and an important turning point in Iraq and the region. A year after the uprising, it resulted in the election of the Kurdistan Parliament to represent all… Components of Kurdistan society and all political, civil and cultural activities.”
He called for adhering to national identity, implementing the constitution, preserving the democratic gains and experience in the Kurdistan region, and consolidating the foundations of freedom and peaceful coexistence among the components.
