Baghdad/ Nina/ The Karkh Criminal Court issued a sentence against two convicts to severe imprisonment for four years each for the crime of promoting counterfeit currency.
The media center of the Supreme Judicial Council stated in a statement that “the convicts were promoting counterfeit money and using it as real money with the intention of defrauding in the Karrada area.”
He added, “The ruling was issued based on the provisions of Article 52/1/A/B of the Central Bank of Iraq Law No. 56 of 2004 and in reference to Articles 47, 48 and 49 of the Penal Code No. 111 of 1969 and inference to the provisions of Article 132/3 thereof.”/End2
