Scotland
15 Blair Kinghorn Toulouse has been in good form and is eagerly awaited to return to the Scotland squad following injury. The defensive ability is very strong. 7
14 Kyle Stein Another player who missed the defeat in France returned after the birth of his daughter and had an unspectacular performance but played a key defensive role. 6
13 Huw Jones Played a big role in Van der Merwe’s first try and was always a threat on the ball. The night’s work was impressive. 6
12 Joan Tuiplutu Working with Jones has been an important factor in Scotland’s progress. But unfortunately, he hobbled off the field in the first minute of the second half. 6
11 Duhan van der Merwe England’s arch-rivals Twickenham scored another stunning hat-trick last year. A late yellow card couldn’t ruin his night. 9
10 Finn Russell (vice-captain) There is always a big impact. Not using all his skills, but he didn’t miss a beat in this game. 7
9 Ben White Firbank’s try went awry but France’s scrum-half recovered well to keep the England backline honest. 6
1 Pierre Schoeman Against the experienced Dan Cole, raw power in the scrum was crucial and the South African made some crucial tackles. 7
2 George Turner The very dynamic Hooker and his throw-ins were a big factor in forcing the onside kick. Looks like the best No. 2 in the tournament. 7
3 Jander Fagerson An early departure for a head injury assessment rocked Scotland’s disarray, but returned to add real stability from set-pieces. 7
4 Grant Gilchrist His red scrum hat was everywhere. Made some important moves. Another good performance at the lineout and on the restart. 6
5 Scott Cummings The Glasgow lock excelled at the lineout, a strength of both sides. A good, strong 80 minutes. 6
6 Jamie Rich His absence against France raised some eyebrows and his performance was impressive if he has a point to prove. 6
7 Rory Dutch (Vice Captain) Always a threat during a crash. Bringing some real energy to the Scotland back row. 6
8 Jack Dempsey Another key figure in the collapse. He was an under-the-radar player who covered every leaf of the Murrayfield turf. 6
Substitute: Ivan Ashman (Turner, 53 minutes) 5; Alec Hepburn (Schoolman, 61) 5; Elliot Miller-Mills (Fagerson, 61) 6; Sam Skinner (Gilchrist, 67) 5; Andy Christie (Ritchie, 53) 5; George Horn (white, 62 years old) 5; Ben Healy (Redpath, 72 blood exchanges) 5; Cameron Redpath (Tupuluotu, 41) 7
England
15 George Furbank was chosen to give England more of an attacking edge. It took five minutes to prove his position, but the dream start did not continue. 6
14 Tommy Freeman He struggled to make his mark in the game, but he lacked possession of the ball most of the time. The defense is solid. 6

13 Henry Slade A key figure in England’s blitzkrieg defence, but has finished virtually nothing in the Championship and provided little attacking threat. 5
12 Ollie Lawrence England need the centre-forward to thunder up front but he has been unable to translate his club form to the international stage. It will improve. 5
11 Elliott Daly This isn’t the only England defender struggling to be at his best. A move to outside center could be a solution against Ireland. 6
10 George Ford Another excellent display. Conceding the goal allowed England to get back into the game. Excellent defense, no less than Russell. 7
9 Danny Kyle It was his 99th cap for his country and the half proved to be his first Six Nations start in six years, but substitute Ben Spencer added some spark. 6
1 Ellis Genge Selected for his energy in dispersion rather than a fight for power, he failed to concede to Xander Fagerson in the fight. 6
2 Jamie George (captain) The captain, who is playing under the weight of grief after the death of his mother, led the team from the front during a difficult night. 7
3 Dan Cole In the first half, Cole’s rushing came into play and the 36-year-old made some key tackles. Completely justified his choice. 6
4 Maro Itoye Made some strong runs and performed well at the lineout, but couldn’t replicate the form against Wales. 6
5 ollie chess As combative as ever, but fading out of the game. There may be pressure for a starting spot against Ireland. 5
6 Ethan Lutz Bringing advantage to the back row but fading from view as the game went on, George Martyn should start against Ireland. 5
7 Sam Underhill England’s best striker. An absolute beast of a breakdown and an England player who continues to improve as the game goes on. 8
8 Ben Earl Man of the match against Wales and once again a dynamic figure in the back row. Made some big plays and defended strong. 7
