The Russian Emergencies Ministry published a new list of the names of those killed in the “Crocus” attack in the capital, Moscow, showing the death toll rising to 143 people.
The Russian Investigative Committee reported earlier on Wednesday that the bodies of 84 victims had been identified. Among them are 5 children between the ages of 9 and 16 years. A total of 143 reports of missing persons were received.
The attack occurred on the Crocus City complex on the evening of Friday, March 22. Several men wearing camouflage clothing stormed the building and opened fire on those present randomly, after which explosions were heard and a fire broke out.
The Basmanny District Court in Moscow sentenced the perpetrators of the Crocus attack to two months in prison pending investigation.
The four detainees were charged with terrorism (Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code). The maximum penalty under this article is life imprisonment.
Director of the Russian Federal Security Service, Alexander Bortnikov, confirmed that the preliminary information reported by the detainees in the case of the terrorist attack on “Crocus” confirms the presence of the Ukrainian trace.
