Baghdad / Nina/Joan Laporta, Barcelona’s president, expressed his anger at what he described as refereeing errors in the match between rivals Real Madrid and Almeria.
Real Madrid overturned its deficit against Almeria, from 2-0 to 3-2, yesterday, Sunday, in a match that witnessed a major arbitration controversy.
Laporta said, in statements to the Spanish “Movistar” network: “With these results, I believe that the competition lacks fairness, not only in this round, because we have analyzed the issue, and there is already a series of points that our competitor has achieved by taking advantage of the referees’ decisions. “I also say that we are used to this.”
He added: “This time things were clearer, and that is why we filed an official complaint with the federation. In addition, I am concerned above all about the morale of our players.”
He continued: “Against Real Betis, we played a good match, and we are proud of the way things went, but I saw the players feeling concerned about what happened at the Bernabéu, and of course we as a club have to take action on this issue.”
He continued: “The Real Madrid channel is putting pressure on the referees. I spoke with the president of the Spanish Federation and he told me that what is past is the past, and that they plan to take action on this matter. He also told me that the referees do not feel pressure.”
He continued: “I am a president who does not hide in the face of situations, and I believe that I must raise my voice on this issue because I see injustice, and when we see this injustice, we denounce it, and we want someone to bear the responsibility of resolving this issue to take the necessary measures on the matter and make decisions to correct it.”
He added: “Apart from the fact that two of Real Madrid’s goals were incorrect, in the Almeria goal that was disallowed, I see that Bellingham was the one who grabbed the shirt of the Almeria player. When he was on the ground, he was looking suspiciously at the referee, as if he was saying, ‘Let’s see if I succeeded. “To deceive him or not? It is a legal target for me.”
He concluded: “If this continues, it will be very difficult for us to achieve our goals.”/End9
