Ready or not, here some exciting casting announcements come! Following news last month that Freaky star Kathryn Newton is set to join Samara Weaving for some effed-up fun and games when horror-comedy sequel Ready Or Not 2 arrives, Searchlight Pictures have now revealed more of the line-up for Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett’s upcoming movie — now officially (quite brilliantly) entitled Ready Or Not: Here I Come. In a social media post set to ‘The Hide And Seek Song’, we learned that Radio Silence’s latest has added genre stalwarts Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood to its ensemble, as well as legendary horror filmmaker David Cronenberg. (Yes, really!)
Additionally, Radio Silence rogues gallery alum Kevin Durand (Abigail) is also down for Ready Or Not 2, as is The Pitt‘s Shawn Hatosy and The Dark Knight‘s Néstor Carbonell. Now, as you’d expect given the twisty-turny nature of Ready Or Not, details on the plot of this unexpected follow-up are being kept firmly under wraps for the time being. And — SPOILER WARNING — with Samara Weaving’s final girl Grace being the sole survivor of Ready Or Not‘s combustive, bloody finale, the RONCU’s claret-soaked canvas is ostensibly clear for anything to happen in the sequel. But we do at least know that shooting on the movie, penned by Scream reboot scribe Guy Busick and Castle Rock‘s R. Christopher Murphy, is set to get underway in Toronto this week.
In a statement accompanying the new cast announcement, directors Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett said, “We’re thrilled to be returning to the world of Ready Or Not with Samara, Brett [Jutkiewicz — DP], Avery [Plewes — Costume Designer], and Andrew [Stearn — Production Designer], and so excited to work with this immensely talented cast and the incredible artists across every department joining the Ready Or Not family.”
With Weaving back as bloodied bride Grace, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Frodo Baggins, and the man behind such classics as Videodrome and The Fly (and star of Star Trek: Discovery) aboard to star, and absolutely no way of any of us knowing what on earth awaits when the Radio Silence gang return, forget Ready Or Not: Here I Come — ready or not, here we come. Straight to the multiplex. See you there!
