The Kremlin considered the statements made by leaders of Western countries regarding the death of opposition politician Alexei Navalny to be frantic and completely unacceptable, given the lack of information yet about the causes of death.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a press statement on Friday, “There is no information about the causes of death, and at the same time such statements are being made. It is clear that these are very frantic (statements). We consider such statements completely unacceptable.” .
Earlier today, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said that Washington and Brussels are the beneficiaries of the death of opposition figure Alexei Navalny.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, “The immediate reaction of NATO leaders to Navalny’s death and their issuance of direct accusations against Russia exposes them.”
She explained that “no results of the forensic examination have yet been issued, while the West’s conclusions were already ready.”
Today, Friday, the Russian Prisons Administration announced that Navalny died in prison immediately after his return to custody from a patrol station in the prison yard, and said that the investigation into the causes of death is still ongoing.
