Screen summit story

The first industry speakers have been confirmed for Screen International’s ‘Financing the Future of UK Film’ summit, taking place on September 29 at the BFI Southbank in London.

They include Ben Browning, co-CEO of Pathe UK, and president of global film. Browning joined the company this year, relocating to London from his role as president of motion pictures at FilmNation in Los Angeles to spearhead Pathe’s renewed focus on English-language filmmaking.

Frederic Fiore, president of French production, sales and distribution company Logical Pictures Group, has also joined the lineup. The company’s second Logical Content Ventures fund recently backed Simon Woods’ dark comedy The Worst, starring Keira Knightley, Alicia Vikander and Jamie Dornan, and Padraic McKinley’s Sundance and Berlin title The Weight, with Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe.

Franki Goodwin, chief creative officer at Saatchi & Saatchi and co-founder of Western Edge Pictures, will also be speaking at the Summit. Goodwin is an award-winning filmmaker for clients including the British Heart Foundation and John Lewis, and leads the curation and support for Saatchi & Saatchi’s prestigious New Creators’ Showcase. Through Western Edge Pictures, her credits include Alice Lowe’s Prevenge and Timestalker and Billie Piper’s Rare Beasts.

The speakers will also include Phin Glynn, producing partner at New York-based development, production and financing company Tricky Knot, where his credits include horror title Psyche starring Noah Jupe. Glynn is also a founding partner of London-based Equation Entertainment through which he is producing A Waiter In Paris, starring Leo Woodall and Clemence Poesy. He previously co-founded Infinity Hill, where his credits include the multi-award-winning Argentina, 1985.

‘Screen Summit 2026: Financing the future of UK film’ will bring together executives, filmmakers and fresh voices for a day of talks and networking to explore the new money, talent and ideas driving the sector at a time of significant disruption and opportunity.

Tickets are on sale now. The Super Early Bird offer price is £195+VAT.

The sessions will cover a range of topics, including: why the UK film sector is a worthwhile investment for private investors; how filmmakers can structure projects to appeal to global brands and collaborate with the rising generation of content creators; strategies for producers to make the most of budgets and structure production financing; making the most of the rise in regional funding options;  detailed case studies of financing indie films; working with UK studio facilities; and the bold ideas that could transform the future of UK film.

The full line-up of speakers and sessions will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Screen Summit 2026 is sponsored by Centtrip, Entertainment Partners and Garden Studios. For sponsorship opportunities, please contact Scott Benfold.
