Baghdad / Nina The Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee decided to proceed with the procedures for legislating laws to ratify agreements related to air transport, due to their importance in organizing and developing most imports from the Iraqi civil air transport sector.
During its regular meeting today, Tuesday, headed by Representative Dylan Ghafoor, the committee discussed a number of air transport services agreements referred to the House of Representatives for approval of their ratification laws, where it recommended that transport rights for the fifth freedom and above not be granted except after the approval of the Council of Ministers.
The committee confirmed that “these agreements include annexes that are amended by agreement between the aviation authorities of both contracting parties, and these amendments become effective upon the exchange of written notices through diplomatic channels.”
She explained, “These annexes stipulate that the exercise of private freedom of transportation rights is subject to prior approvals between the aviation authorities in both countries,” indicating that “granting this freedom leads to harm to national transportation if it is applied without the approval of the Council of Ministers.”/End 5
