Today, Saturday, the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency announced the arrest of a network for forging official documents and fake seals in the Maridi market.
The agency stated, in a statement received by Al-Rasheed, that “detachments of the Directorate of Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism in Baghdad, Al-Rusafa, received accurate information about the location of a network specialized in forging official documents and fake seals within Baghdad Governorate, next to Al-Rusafa, specifically in one of the popular markets called (Maridi Market).”
She added: “An intelligence and technical work team was formed to investigate and collect information about their whereabouts, and after obtaining judicial approvals and completing all due process procedures, the members of the counterfeiting network gang were overthrown, with a precise ambush within what is called (Muridi Market).”
She continued: “The defendants were also seized with a group of electronic printers specialized in counterfeiting, and a large group of official documents and ivory IDs used to print documents, in addition to the seizure of (70) gelatin seals and (1000) phosphorescent (labels) of various shapes and uses.”
She stated, “The initial investigation with the defendants explicitly admitted that they had committed the crime of forgery and that the seized materials in their possession were in their possession. Their statements were recorded and they were referred to the competent authorities in preparation for their appearance before the judiciary to receive their just punishment.”
