Istanbul /NinaOne person was killed and an unspecified number of others were injured this Sunday afternoon in an armed attack on a church in the Sariyar area in downtown Istanbul.
The Turkish TRT channel reported that two armed masked men entered the church during Sunday prayers and opened fire randomly on the worshipers, causing a state of chaos and panic, killing one person and wounding a number of others, a preliminary toll.
The TV channel indicated that Turkish security forces rushed to the scene of the accident and cordoned off the area, while ambulances transported the victims.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerli Kaya said in his comment on the incident via his account on the “X” platform: “We strongly condemn this despicable attack. Efforts have begun to arrest the attackers.”/End
