The Iraqi News Agency (INA) correspondent said, “The security forces in Holy Karbala arrested one of the wanted persons involved in the killing of the Dhi Qar intelligence director.”
Earlier, the Ministry of Interior confirmed that the killer of the Director of Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism in Dhi Qar, Brigadier General Aziz Shalal Al-Shami, will not escape legal accountability.
A statement from the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said, “The official spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Miqdad Miri, accompanied by the Dhi Qar Police Commander, Major General Makki Shana Al-Khikani, and their accompanying delegation, paid a visit to the family of the heroic martyr, Brigadier General Aziz Shalal Al-Shami, Director of Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism, Dhi Qar.” Qar, who received the honor of martyrdom while on duty in the correctional judiciary to resolve a tribal dispute.”
The statement added, “The official spokesman for the Ministry of Interior conveyed the minister’s greetings and condolences to his family and loved ones,” stressing, “The martyr is one of the ministry’s pride, and the perpetrators will not escape legal accountability, and that we have reached good investigative results,” asking God Almighty to “relieve May the deceased rest in peace, and may he grant patience and solace to his family and loved ones.”
