The Ministry of Oil revealed today, Friday, the contents of its plan for the Ashura visit, and while it indicated the pumping of millions of liters of oil derivatives to support the visitors’ vehicles, generators, and Husseini processions, especially in the holy city of Karbala, it confirmed the early start of implementing the plan.
The ministry’s spokesman, Asim Jihad, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, directed the formation of an operations room to provide the needs of the plan for the visit of the tenth of Muharram of petroleum products, which include vehicle fuel, kerosene for generators, liquefied gas cylinders, and kerosene.”
He added, “Millions of liters of these products have been pumped in addition to strengthening the strategic stockpile, and the Ministry of Oil is keen to contribute effectively to the success of the plan to visit the tenth of Muharram.”
He continued, “Preparations, as in every year, began early with the formation of an operations room by the concerned officials, departments and formations. The operations room first strengthened the strategic stock of the holy Karbala Governorate, where the peak of the visit is, and the governorates of the Middle Euphrates with the necessary types of petroleum derivatives needed by the Husseini processions and government sectors, as well as strengthening the distribution outlets and electrical power distribution stations, as well as private generators, in addition to establishing a number of mobile stations to equip vehicles to transport visitors to and from Karbala.”
He pointed out that “this plan continues until the end of the visit, and after that another plan for the Arbaeen visit will begin. Certainly, the ministry has devoted its efforts and the efforts of the oil formations and companies to enhance support for the processions and also for the visitors and along the route of the visitors from the governorates towards the holy Karbala.”
