Newport vs Manchester United LIVE: FA Cup result, final score and reaction as United narrowly avoid cup upset

The whistle goes and United have scraped through to the fifth round of the FA Cup. The scoreline may tell one story but this was a very tight game that Newport threatened to come out on top of.

They battled back superbly having gone 2-0 down but goals from Antony and Hojlund ultimately proved too much for the Welsh side.

90+9 mins: A great late effort by Waite but Bayindir does well to tip the effort over the bar.

90+7 mins: A couple of late changes for both sides as Palmer-Houlden makes way for Wood, while Evans comes on for Varane.

And that should be that! Newport poured men forward looking for the equaliser and United can break. Garnacho slides through Forson who sees his effort saved by Townsend but Hojlund is on hand to finish off the rebound.

It’s been a real tussle but United look like they are going to scrape by here in Wales.

90 mins: CLOSE! So close to a dramatic equaliser for Evans. The striker gets the ball out of his feet superbly and his left-footed strike goes just wide of the right post with Bayindir at full stretch.
