Game 12: Australia 26-2 (Khawaja 7, Lyon 17) Good and aggressive action from New Zealand, short leg is brought under cover and Henry hits the bowling ball to the ribs. Lyon has the ball to work with in the final over and it’s a nice shout to have him bouncing around the crease and thinking about protecting those magic fingers. Sure enough, he took a hit on his glove and looked in pain.

The players are here, A crisp Wellington breeze rippled the white pigeons as they made their way to the pitch. Fingers crossed for some fireworks…let’s play!
Manus’ weight loss journey continues. Later in the day, an unnecessary flick of his had the wicketkeeper catching him down the leg side, exactly the kind of dismissal that happens when you’re on a bad run.
It’s a bit cloudy in Wellington this morning, with a slight breezeTim Southee and Matt Henry, who are only eight rounds old, pitched superbly last night. It’s a cliche, but the first hour is important and if Australia get through it unscathed, it could be the curtain call for New Zealand.
New Zealand need to take wickets early, In fact, they need to get through Australia’s batting card quickly in the next few hours to leave themselves with a target of around 350. This might give them an outside opportunity…
I’m nervous 😬 I just hope Tim Southee can toughen up and get some wickets soon! #NZvAUS

A couple of quick wickets late last night – with Mr Smith and Labuschagne back in the cage on the cheap – would have given them some hope, but Pat Cummins’ side have eight in hand Leading by an astonishing 217 runs without a wicket.
The game starts at 11am local time, 9am AEDT and 10pm London.Jim is calling, please email or tweet me @Jimbo_Cricket. Let’s get to work.
