In the fifth match in Wellington, England women’s team defeated New Zealand women’s team by 5 wickets to win the T20 series 4-1. Chasing 137, captain Heather Knight and Nat Sciver-Brunt combined for a crucial 57 runs for the fourth wicket to help England take control of the game.
The England bowlers reduced the hosts’ deficit to 31 runs in four overs, with Sciver-Brunt taking 2 for 24 to take early control. Brooke Halliday scored 33 before bowling Alice Capsey to Sophie Ecclestone Ecclestone finished with 30 runs for three runs while wicketkeeper Izzy Gaze remained unbeaten. The last ball scored 51 points, and the total score of the six players reached 136 points.
Maia Bouchier, who set an England series record with a score of 223, fell early in her reply. Alice Capsey (25) and Danny Wyatt (21) fell before mid-off but Seaver-Brent (31) and Knight took the game away from New Zealand .
Knight scored 35 and needed 5 to win, Sophia Dunkley got the job done with just 2 with 7 remaining.
The two teams will begin a three-match ODI series in Wellington on Monday.
