Youssef Salman: The capital, Baghdad, is currently hosting the activities of the Baghdad International Fair in its forty-seventh session, under the patronage of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and the participation of 20 countries and more than 800 global, international and local companies, in an economic and commercial event that is considered the largest forum since the year 2003.
The Chargé d’Affairs of the Japanese Embassy in Iraq, Masimoto Keniji, said during the official ceremony on the occasion of the Japanese National Day on the sidelines of the launch of the Baghdad International Fair activities, “The Baghdad International Fair is returning to the forefront, and we were very impressed by the wonderful work at the Baghdad Fair to see many important countries and companies participating in this event.” The session, including all Japanese companies participating in the exhibition.
He added, “Japanese-Iraqi economic relations enjoy a strong friendly relationship that witnessed a trade boom in the seventies, and after 2003 economic activities and relations returned. We also provided much assistance in the southern regions and in several fields,” stressing that “Iraq enjoys a rich history and Mesopotamian civilization, and they have “There are many possibilities represented by the rich natural resources in addition to the human resources with a young majority and its relations with other countries.”
He added, “The Baghdad International Fair is an important economic, commercial and social link, and in this session approximately 18 Japanese companies participated in the exhibition. We also announce that the Japanese embassy receives many cultural activities and we invite Iraqis to visit the Japanese pavilion to learn about our cultures. We hope that Iraqi relations will develop.” Japan is more advanced in all fields.
In turn, the CEO of Toyota Iraq, Sardar Al-Bibani, confirmed that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani’s speech at the opening of the current session of the Baghdad International Fair activities is an effective encouragement and real support for the wheel of investment, which makes us urge steps to enhance joint cooperation with government sectors and others.”
Al-Bibani said, in an interview with the Iraqi National News Agency: Nina /: “We are working in cooperation with government agencies to enhance investments and we hope to actually achieve this so that reputable international companies similar to Toyota can intervene, increase the provision of their services in Iraq and have a strong presence in the local market.”
He added, “Investment is not limited only to the construction sector, but rather to building the capabilities of the Iraqi staff, and this is what our company has done since 2012. Today, the Iraqi staff is the one who performs all the services required to be provided to the general public, and we also seek, as an Iraqi company, to have international companies join us in the field.” The upcoming sessions of the Baghdad International Fair, because our success in Iraq will be an important reason for the presence of others in the Iraqi local market,” calling on all governmental and non-governmental institutions to cooperate and exchange ideas and proposals to support the diversity of local market technologies, especially in the transportation sector.

Regarding enhancing the production of environmentally friendly vehicles, the President of Toyota Iraq explained, “There have been many developments and there is a package of fruitful decisions taken by the Iraqi government to encourage citizens to use renewable energy and reduce associated gas emissions, including supporting the acquisition of vehicles that operate with clean energy, as well as providing financial support to the Industrial Bank to reduce The interest rate for obtaining income-generating loans and encouraging the reduction of fuel combustion and toxic gas emissions. We also plan in the next stage to use electric-powered vehicles and clean energy instead of the current reliance on fuel and gas combustion.”
The Ministry of Commerce confirmed that the current session of the Baghdad International Fair is witnessing broad participation by more than 800 international and local companies.
Director of the General Company for Exhibitions and Commercial Services at the Ministry of Commerce, Mustafa Al-Ani, said: “The current session of the Baghdad Fair comes within the framework of the government’s interest in Iraq’s openness to the countries of the world and the region, and this forum will constitute an important reflection in Iraq’s economic, industrial and commercial reality. It is also an opportunity to exchange experiences and meet… “The market’s need for goods, services and expertise offered by international and local companies.”
He pointed out: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated with more than 140 companies, in addition to the presence of companies from countries that had not previously participated in Baghdad, such as the Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, and other countries.”/End 5
