The head of the Department of Cinema and Television Arts, at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad, Hikmat Al-Baydani, announced today, Tuesday, the receipt of more than 130 dramatic works within one month, stressing that these works will be subject to examination and the nomination of the best for dramatic production within the government grant.

Al-Baidhani told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Now, by Diwani’s order, a committee has been formed to divide what is presented to the drama grant, provided by the Council of Ministers,” indicating that “the committee consists of the artist Mahmoud Abu Al-Abbas as chairman, myself, and Wadih Nader as a member.”
He pointed out, “One of the conditions of this committee is that we, the members, do not produce any production of our own, not even for the head of the committee, the artist Mahmoud Abu Abbas, as an actor.”
Al-Baidhani explained, “The committee’s work is to open the portal for applicants for works only, which reached approximately 137 works within one month, after which these works will be referred to specialized committees that work to read the texts and choose the best in order to produce them,” stressing: “We are keen to Producing the largest number of works that are consistent with the allocated budget.
