The Meteorological Authority expected, on Tuesday, that temperatures will continue to fluctuate between high and low due to the continuation of the seasonal heat depression that will continue to affect the country for 3 months. While explaining its effects, it renewed its warnings to citizens against direct exposure to the sun.
The media director of the authority, Amer Al-Jaberi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The country was exposed to the effects of the seasonal heat depression coming from Southeast Asia, which raised temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius, sometimes reaching 50 and 51 degrees Celsius.”
He added, “Temperatures will continue to rise and fall due to the effects of this depression, which will affect the country for 3 months, and we expect temperatures to rise again before and after mid-July.”
Regarding exposure to sunlight after the slight drop in temperatures, Al-Jabri warned citizens against direct exposure, stating that “everyone must avoid direct exposure as much as possible, especially during peak hours between 10 am and 4 pm, and wear hats and drink water to prevent complications from drinking large quantities of water.”
