Marcus Rashford has been subject to internal disciplinary action by Eric Ten Hag after he reported feeling unwell on Friday after allegedly attending a party in Belfast in the early hours of Thursday morning.
United issued a statement on Monday night saying the incident “has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter”, and a report in The Sun claimed the England player went out drinking on Thursday before flying back to Manchester on a private jet early in the morning and missing training.
He subsequently missed Sunday’s 4-2 FA Cup win over Newport County. Rashford and his agent and brother Dwayne Maynard were filmed driving into the club’s Carrington training base to hold discussions with Ten Hag.
A United statement released on Monday night said: “Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions. This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter and has now been concluded.”
It was unclear whether he had been fined or faced other action. Manchester United say Rashford is available for Thursday’s Premier League game against Wolves.
After a disagreement with Jadon Sancho in September over Sancho’s omission from Arsenal’s defeat, Ten Hag quickly ended the matter, leading to the striker being sent out on loan this month He stopped playing under the coach before arriving at Dortmund.
Rashford reported feeling unwell during United’s training at Carrington on Friday, hours after photos emerged of him visibly seen at a nightclub in the Northern Ireland capital. The Sun reports that the Manchester United star drank just before 3am and eventually went to bed.
