Two Madonna fans in New York City are suing the pop star for being late to her concert, claiming they “had to get up early to go to work” the next morning.
In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in Brooklyn federal court, Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden said they purchased tickets to the Dec. 13 show at Barclays Center as a celebration of Madonna part of the tour.
The suit said the show was advertised to start at 8.30pm, but the 65-year-old musician did not take the stage until after 10.30pm.
When two concertgoers left after 1 a.m., they were “stranded in the middle of the night” and “faced issues with limited public transportation, limited ridesharing, and/or increased costs for public and private transportation.”
The late ending of the weekend evening show also affected their ability to “meet family responsibilities the next day,” the suit said.
Firth and Harden accuse Madonna, Barclays Center and tour promoter Live Nation of engaging in “unreasonable, unfair and/or deceptive trade practices” by delaying the start of the tour, which they believe constitutes a breach of contract and ” Randomly carry out false propaganda.” advertise”.
The lawsuit is seeking a class-action lawsuit against attendees of other late-start Celebration performances, including Madonna’s next two concerts in New York on Dec. 14 and 16.
In the world of live music, delays are not uncommon. Madonna herself has faced similar lawsuits: In 2019, a Florida fan argued that she breached her contract by showing up late to her Madame X tour; in 2020, two New York concertgoers sued again.
Both lawsuits were later voluntarily dismissed.
