Bayer Leverkusen strengthened its lead in the German Football League (Bundesliga) by defeating Mainz (2-1) on Friday in the 23rd round of the competition.

Leverkusen took the lead with a goal scored by Granit Xhaka in the 3rd minute, and Mainz equalized through Dominik Kuhr in the 8th minute. In the second half, Leverkusen was able to score the second goal through Robert Andrich in the 68th minute.
Mainz’s balance stopped at 15 points in 17th place (penultimate), suffering its 12th loss this season, compared to winning two matches and drawing 9 matches.
