Check any ranking of the all-time great HBO series, and you’re guaranteed to find Band Of Brothers in there. And for good reason – the 2001 miniseries, from none other than Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, is a World War II masterpiece, deserving to stand alongside Spielberg’s own Saving Private Ryan. And for those who loved the show, and have rewatched it over the years, there’s a new treat coming your way. To mark the 25th anniversary of the show, a new feature documentary Band Of Brothers: Legacy is coming to HBO Max. Watch the trailer:
This one looks like a real treat for Band Of Brothers heads – especially featuring new interview material with the likes of David Schwimmer, Damian Lewis, Ron Livingston, and Michael Cudlitz. The documentary film is directed by Chase Millsap, a former Green Beret in the US Army. It will be streaming on HBO Max from 9 September, less than a week away – coinciding with the exact date the original show aired (which, the doc points out, began airing just two days before 9/11).
It’s the perfect excuse to rewatch Band Of Brothers, and get some extra insight into the real story behind the show, and the series’ creation. Now, who can we petition to try and get documentaries for The Pacific, and Masters Of The Air?
