Lamar Jackson admitted he was disappointed that the offense that helped his team to the NFL’s best regular-season record failed to earn a spot in the Super Bowl.
Heading into Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Ravens have won Jackson’s last seven starts, averaging 33.9 points per game during that span. But in the game against Kansas City, the offense only scored 10 points and committed three turnovers, including Jackson’s fumble and interception.
“We’re angry,” Jackson, the current MVP favorite, said after Sunday’s 17-10 loss to the Chiefs. “Offended, we didn’t put anything on the board. We scored once. That’s not like us. We took the ball down the field. It’s cool. But we have to put the score on the board. But I feel like my The team was just angry, not frustrated, we were just angry. We know how hard we worked to get here.”
Jackson had some big moments on Sunday, including a touchdown pass after somewhat avoiding a sack by Leo Chenauer. But against the Chiefs’ suffocating defense, he was nowhere near as fluid as he has been for much of the season. Sunday’s loss means Jackson is now 2-4 in the postseason, which should serve as motivation for those who thought he was shrinking from the spotlight. In his postseason career, he has eight turnovers and four touchdowns. However, his head coach John Harbaugh said he is not worried about the 27-year-old player.
“I told him to stand up,” Harbaugh said. “He’s had a great season and he played with a lot of heart today. He fought, he went out there and gave everything he had. So I don’t think it’s going to let me down.”
The Chiefs, meanwhile, will be in their fourth Super Bowl in five years and have a chance to become the first team since the 2004 New England Patriots to win back-to-back titles.

“You don’t take it for granted,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said. “You never know how far you’re going to reach, or if you’re going to reach anything. So to do it with these guys after the whole season we’ve had, it’s really special. The lads coming together, it’s really special. But I tell them, “The job isn’t done yet. “Our job now is to get ready, play a good team in the Super Bowl and try to win that ring.”
