The Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday that the Karkh Police Command arrested an accused who ran over a traffic policeman while on duty and then fled.

The Ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “After receiving news through central control that a traffic officer had been run over by a driver and fled to an unknown destination within the Al-Hurriya area, a work team was immediately formed under the guidance of the Baghdad Al-Karkh Police Commander, Major General The human rights activist, Balasim Hamad Hassan, was moved to the scene of the accident, followed the surveillance cameras, and determined the number of the wheel and its owner, and his residence was reached.”
She added, “After gathering information and investigating, we found his whereabouts, arrested him, seized the wheel, and placed him in detention,” noting that “legal measures were taken against him in accordance with the law.”
