Which big names are on Epstein’s list?
A new batch of court documents relating to dead sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein has now been unsealed, after US judge Loretta Preska ordered the release of filings in a lawsuit brought by Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre against Ghislaine Maxwell.
In total, 17 filings were unsealed on Monday.
This comes after the first batch was released on Wednesday, naming Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, and magician David Copperfield. Celebrities including Cameron Diaz and Bruce Willis were also named. The naming of individuals does not indicate any wrongdoing.
Maxwell – currently in federal prison for sex trafficking – was sued in 2015 after she branded Ms Giuffre a liar over her claims that she was sexually abused as a minor. The suit was settled in 2017 but the documents remained sealed – until now.
Further documents will be released over the coming days, providing further insight into Epstein’s years-long campaign of abuse and the powerful circles he mingled in.
Giuffre’s attorneys were frustrated over Epstein invoking the fifth
In newly unsealed documents, attorneys for Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre expressed before the court their frustration after Epstein invoked the Fifth Amendment when asked “no brainer” questions about his relationship with Maxwell and former Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz.

Jeffrey Epstein had private email messaging system
According to unsealed testimony by Epstein housekeeper Juan Alessi, the convicted paedophile had an internal messaging system dubbed “MindSpring,” which he used for all communications. Mr Alessi claimed that the system got “so ridiculous” that instead of asking her directly for coffee or orange juice, Mr Epstein would call his staff in New York, who would type the message on MindSpring and then send it to Mr Alessi.
“But it was a message system that Jeffrey received every two, three hours, with all the messages that would have to go to the office in New York, and they will print it and send it faxed to the [Palm Beach] house, and I would hand it to him,” Mr Alessi said in a 2016 deposition.
“Mr. Epstein, instead of talking to me that he wants a cup of coffee, he will call the office; the office would type it; they would send it to me, Jeffrey wants a cup of coffee, or Jeffrey wants an orange juice out by the pool.”
The deposition was cited by Virginia Giuffre’s attorneys in a motion to request that all discovery be produced by Maxwell’s attorneys.
Maxwell said in a response filing that she had not deleted any potential communications she had through the email messaging system.

The alleged associates of Jeffrey Epstein: Names and numbers
The first two batches of unsealed Jeffrey Epstein court documents reveal a number of high-profile individuals whose names appeared multiple times in various materials, including footnotes.
Among them are two former US presidents – Donald Trump and Bill Clinton – and Prince Andrew, all three of whom have been pictured with and known to associate with the disgraced financier in the past.
Other names include lawyer Alan Dershowitz, magician David Copperfield, Michael Jackson and Leonardo DiCaprio.
However, being identified through the court documents does not necessarily mean that the individual was involved in or aware of any wrongdoing by Epstein.
The Independent’s Mike Bedigan has the details:

Revealed: Epstein docs reveal claim he told victim that Bill Clinton ‘likes them young’
Billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein once told one of his victims that Bill Clinton “likes them young”, according to dramatic testimony revealed in court documents unsealed for the very first time.
Among the hundreds of pages of filings, victim Johanna Sjoberg spoke about what she knew about Mr Clinton’s ties to Epstein as part of a 2016 deposition that also made allegations against Prince Andrew.
Under sworn testimony, she said that Epstein had told her the former president liked girls “young”.
“[Epstein] said one time that Clinton likes them young, referring to girls,” she testified.
When asked if she knew Mr Clinton was a friend of Epstein, she said: “I knew he had dealings with Bill Clinton. I did not know they were friends until I read the Vanity Fair article about them going to Africa together.”
However, Ms Sjoberg testified that she never met Mr Clinton, never saw him on Epstein’s Caribbean island and never saw him being flown in a helicopter by Maxwell.
There is no indication that the former president is involved in any wrongdoing and is not accused of any crime.
Mr Clinton’s spokesperson told CNN on Wednesday that it has now “been nearly 20 years since President Clinton last had contact with Epstein” and denied that the former president ever had any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes.

Giuffre lawyer: ‘Unsealing of Epstein documents gets us closer to our goal’
Sigrid McCawley, attorney for Virginia Giuffre, said that the unsealing of the Epstein documents “gets us closer to the goal” of shutting down sex-trafficking “wherever it exists” and holding those responsible to account.
In a statement, Ms McCawley said that though some questions about how Epstein’s global trafficking enterprise had been answered, many still remained.
“Going back to the summer of 2019 when the Second Circuit Court of Appeals issued its important ruling concerning access to documents in our client Virginia Giuffre’s defamation case against the now tried and convicted Ghislaine Maxwell and when the now late Jeffrey Epstein was arrested in dramatic fashion, the world has been on watch,” she said.
“The public has wondered and many have rightly demanded to know how Epstein operated his vast, global sex trafficking enterprise and got away with it for decades.
“Questions of who enabled and facilitated him and who participated in an operation that resulted in unspeakable harm and devastation to the lives of countless girls and young women quickly surfaced. Some of those questions have been answered; many have not. Some justice for the survivors has, indeed, been achieved; not nearly enough as hoped for and deserved.
“The public interest must still be served in learning more about the scale and scope of Epstein’s racket to further the important goal of shutting down sex trafficking wherever it exists and holding more to account. The unsealing of these documents gets us closer to that goal.”

Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘paedophile island’ is getting a major rebrand – as a luxury resort
For years, it was known to victims as the “paedophile island”.
It was a place where Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell lured girls and vulnerable young women, dazzled by the glamour of a spectacular, paradise Caribbean island.
Once there – and with no way of getting off the islands – these victims were sexually abused by Epstein and allegedly trafficked to his powerful, wealthy circle of clients.
Dozens of celebrities and famous figures also visited the 70-plus-acre island of Little St. James and 160-plus-acre island of Great St. James – visits that, based on what later came to light, many would rather erase from public memory.
There’s no denying that these islands have dark pasts.
But, they are now having a total makeover – courtesy of a new owner and his grand plans to transform the infamous hideaway into a luxury, five-star resort.
