Jannik Sinner reaches the Miami Open final with a stunning performance to defeat defending champion Daniil Medvedev.
It was a repeat of the Australian Open final, with Medvedev leading by two sets and Sinner fighting back to win his first Grand Slam title. It wasn’t that close, however, as Sinner reversed last year’s final result 6-1, 6-2 in just 69 minutes.
The 22-year-old Italian lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals at Indian Wells two weeks ago in his only fight so far this season, but he has been dominant in Florida status.
Serena Williams was also in the crowd and some fans at Hard Rock Stadium jeered Medvedev after two wild errors late in the second set, with the Russian completely outplayed.
Sinner, who could surpass Alcaraz to become world number two by winning the title, told Sky Sports: “I felt great on the court today. I served well, especially in important moments. I started every set Shidu handled the situation very well. He had some break opportunities and if he succeeded, it would have made a big difference.

“I’m very happy. I think Daniel didn’t play his best today, he missed some shots that he normally wouldn’t miss, but I took my chance and I’m happy to be in the final.”
