Australian freestyle motocross star Jayden Archer has died, reportedly in a crash while practicing the tricks that made him famous.
Archer, 27, is the first motocross rider to land a triple backflip at the Nitro World Games in Brisbane in November 2022. Soon after, he proposed to his girlfriend.
According to ESPN, he was killed while practicing the technique at training in his hometown of Melbourne.
Archer is a star in the Australian motocross community. In 2011, at the age of 15, he signed a sponsorship deal with Powersports Kawasaki and became the youngest person in history to record a motorcycle backflip of over 75 feet.
He is a 2023 X Games medalist and one of only three people known to have completed a triple backflip.
Shortly after completing the move in November 2022, he said: “I can’t describe this feeling. This is more than just a trick to me. I have dedicated my life to this moment for the past three years. There are many obstacles. , broken bones and knockouts, I would do it 100 times to relive that moment again.”
Archer then took the microphone from the interviewer and proposed to his girlfriend, Beth King.
Archer had been a member of Nitro Circus, an extreme sports group for 10 years, which confirmed his death on social media.
“The Nitro Circus family is mourning the passing of Jayo Archer,” the organization posted on Instagram. “Jayo was the epitome of passion, hard work and determination. He pushed what was possible in dirt biking to unprecedented heights. A positive influence on those around him. Most importantly, he was a great human being and a great addition to all of us friend.”

The motocross community mourns Archer’s passing.
“Jayo lights up every room he walks into with his energy and good values,” driver Harry Bink posted on Instagram. “He’s not scared and I really admire him…I don’t think even Jayo knows how much we’re going to miss him.”
