Italy cautious on Palestinian recognition as protests grow

On Monday, cities across Italy witnessed pro-Palestinian protests, strikes, and blockades, following union calls to “denounce the genocide in Gaza” and push for diplomatic and economic sanctions against Israel. Meanwhile, while neighbouring countries such as the UK and France move to recognise Palestinian statehood, the Italian government has opted for a more cautious approach.
