Today, Sunday, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Youth Affairs, Qasim Al-Zalmi, explained the details of the national competition for youth programs, and while it includes financial grants amounting to 50 million dinars, he confirmed the approval to launch a campaign to rehabilitate youth facilities in all governorates.

Al-Zalmi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The primary mission of the Supreme Council for Youth is to create real opportunities on the ground that meet the ambitions and aspirations of the Iraqi youth.”
He added, “This council represents a unique, healthy youth situation. It was launched following the Youth Dialogue Conference, through which their proposals were delivered to Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, which was held at the time on the occasion of World Youth Day.”
He continued, “The Council of Ministers then issued Resolution No. 23456 of 2023 with 44 paragraphs related to youth, the first of which was the establishment of the Supreme Council for Youth.”
He added, “The Supreme Youth Council held three sessions that included decisions, including approving the launch of the national competition for youth programs, which aims to provide support for 100 youth programs and initiatives with a financial grant ranging between 5-50 million dinars, through which the programs are selected,” pointing out that It “came based on the decision of the Council of Ministers, which established the Supreme Youth Council within Paragraph 29, which stipulates that the Ministry of Finance allocates 5 billion dinars to support programs, projects, and purposeful projects presented by organizations in Iraq to dispense with international organizations and their programs for volunteer teams.”
He continued, “It was also approved to form the National Youth Team for Climate Change by selecting 1,000 young people active in the field of climate change on a voluntary basis,” noting that “the formation of the team aims to enhance the role of Iraqi youth in confronting the challenges of climate and environmental change and to enhance cooperation between the authorities concerned with the affairs of Iraq.” climate and environmental challenges and developing plans and solutions to confront climate challenges, provided that the team is linked to the Supreme Youth Council.”
He stated that “it was also approved for all governorates to launch a campaign to rehabilitate youth facilities in order to open the way for youth organizations and teams to establish their activities and initiatives in a way that serves the youth and under the supervision of the Supreme Council for Youth,” pointing out that “these decisions are important and nothing like them has been taken before, especially the rehabilitation of forums or Launching a climate project or launching a national competition project.”
He stated that “the Youth Ambassadors Program was launched in the first session of the Supreme Council for Youth over a period of ten days and 34,000 young people registered for it. They were filtered through criteria and the number was reduced to 5,000. The program was launched in 15 governorates,” pointing out that “the next stage will be structural completion.” Youth Ambassadors Programme.
He stressed that “among these 5,000, a number of them will be nominated for election in 83 districts with the name of district ambassador. This program is called the General Council of Youth Ambassadors. As for the governorates, an ambassador will be elected for each governorate.”
He pointed out that “the main mission of the youth ambassadors is to be the link between the youth and the executive authorities by linking through the secretariat of the Supreme Council for Youth and communicating via electronic and direct means.”
Al-Zalmi pointed out that “electronic communication will be through two platforms that will be launched soon. The first is entitled Youth Ideas, which receives the ambitions and ideas of young people, and the other platform is Youth Eye, which young people will rely on for news about combating corruption and drugs, providing services, and others.”
He stated that “direct communication will be through youth councils, conferences and seminars that will be held and we are continuing with them,” explaining that “the ambassador will have priority in submitting the request if he submits it through the electronic communication available through the two platforms or directly.”
