Today, Monday, the General Company for Iraqi Airlines issued an explanation and apology for the delay of one of its flights, indicating that the delay was for hours and not for two days, as some reported.

The company stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the management of the General Company for Iraqi Airways has always been keen to adhere to the implementation dates of its flights,” adding that “the increase in the number of passengers added to the national carrier’s flights between Iraq and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after they were unable to be transported.” By one of the local airlines, it has created pressure on the company’s flights and its air crews, which are making double efforts throughout the day to serve passengers.”
She continued, “This increase in flights has clearly had a disproportionate impact on the company’s scheduled flights, and at a time when the company’s management extends its sincere apologies to the honorable travelers for the delay that accompanied the flight transporting Iraqi pilgrims for hours and not two days, as some have promoted on social networking sites.” Noting that “we ask everyone to understand the situation and appreciate the emergency situation that accompanied the company’s work, which we worked to overcome and strive to prevent it from recurring.”
