Today, Monday, Trade Minister Atheer Daoud Al-Ghurairi affirmed Iraq’s keenness to develop its relations with Türkiye.

A statement from the ministry – received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) – stated, “On the sidelines of the Minister of Commerce, Atheer Daoud Al-Ghurairi, heading the Iraqi delegation at the third ministerial meeting of the Trade Negotiations Committee on the Trade Preferences System for Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Al-Ghurairi met in Istanbul with the Turkish Minister of Trade.” Omar Polat: to discuss the prospects for trade and economic cooperation between the two neighboring countries and the agreements signed between them.
Al-Ghurairi stressed – during the meeting – “the Iraqi government’s keenness to develop relations with neighboring Turkey, in a way that serves mutual interests, by taking advantage of all available opportunities to establish joint production and investment projects and increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.”
For his part, the Turkish Minister welcomed “Al-Ghurairi’s visit to Turkey and his participation in the ministerial meeting,” stressing “the Turkish government’s keenness to develop and develop economic, investment and trade relations with Iraq, and to implement the agreements signed between them.”
The statement continued, “The meeting also discussed the outcomes of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Iraq, and coordination and arrangement for the visit of the Turkish Minister of Trade to Iraq during next July.”
