Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein, announced today, Wednesday, the allocation of $25 million US dollars to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA).

The Ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein, the participating delegation of Iraq, chaired the meetings of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level in its (161) regular session, which was held on Wednesday, corresponding to 3/2024.” /6, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.”
In his speech, which he referred to through a press statement at the headquarters of the Arab League, according to the statement, the Minister renewed “the position of the Republic of Iraq in supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people who face policies of revenge and collective punishment at the hands of the Israeli entity’s army in Gaza on a daily basis.”
He announced “a decision by the Iraqi Council of Ministers to allocate an amount of (25) million US dollars to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA), out of its belief in the importance of the organization’s efforts to alleviate the burdens of the Palestinian people by providing medical and relief supplies that have become a necessity.” matters necessary for the continuation of life in Palestine,” calling on other countries to “support (UNRWA).”
The statement added, “At the League Council meeting, the Kingdom of Morocco handed over the presidency of the current session to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.”
