Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohsen al-Mandalawi and Turkish President Numan Kurtulmus agreed today, Thursday, to agree to activate the work of the joint committees concerned with water and security.
The media office of the Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “The President of the Arab Parliamentary Union, the Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, met with the Grand Speaker of the Turkish National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, on the sidelines of participation in the plenary session. 14th Asian Parliamentary Assembly, held in Baku.
He explained, “During the meeting, it was agreed to activate the work of the joint committees concerned with dealing with the water file, in a way that ensures an increase in Iraq’s share, so that it is fair and sufficient to cover the country’s actual need, in addition to discussing security files, border control, and stimulating investment, in addition to discussing the development road project.” “And the achievements achieved in it, and its importance to the two countries as it represents a link between the East and the West.”
The head of the Iraqi parliamentary delegation stressed, “the rejection of the repeated attacks on Iraqi lands, and their impact on the future of relations linking the two countries and the two neighboring peoples,” calling for “the necessity of cooperation to achieve stability in the region, and to coordinate positions between the two parliaments in regional and international forums, especially regarding crucial issues and on Its Palestinian head, and files of common interest.”
