The temporary Chargé d’Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the State of Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, stressed, with Libyan Minister of Justice Halima Ibrahim, today, Monday, the necessity of coordination regarding confronting the ideology of extremism and takfirism.

A statement from the Iraqi embassy in Libya, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said: “The temporary charge d’affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the State of Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, met with the Libyan Minister of Justice, Halima Ibrahim, in the Ministry of Justice building in the capital, Tripoli.”
The statement added, “At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Sahhaf offered congratulations on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, asking God Almighty to bring it back to the brotherly Libyan people with goodness and blessings. The meeting discussed bilateral relations between Iraqi and Libyan institutions, especially those concerned with judicial and legal files and human rights, and the need to benefit from… The shared experiences of both sides in this field and what is reflected in the exchange of experiences.”
The statement continued, “The two sides discussed a number of issues that concern a number of Iraqis in the courts and judicial bodies in the State of Libya.” In turn, Minister Halima Ibrahim expressed her keenness to find a solution to these issues, and the two sides also stressed during the meeting the need for coordination on “confronting the ideology of extremism and takfirism and the efforts of the Iraqi government regarding the strategy to confront extremism that leads to violence.”
The statement concluded, “The Libyan Minister of Justice praised the organizational efforts for the success of the Conference of Arab Ministers of Justice in its thirty-ninth session, which was held in Baghdad and headed by the Minister of Justice, Khaled Shawani, welcoming the reopening of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Tripoli, and expressing her desire to visit Baghdad and discuss relevant issues between… The two countries, noting the importance of bilateral cooperation with Iraq in the field of human rights and the judiciary.
