Today, Tuesday, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Qais Al-Muhammadawi, received the Italian Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Francesco Paolo, the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Maurizio Griganti, and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of a number of directors of the command staff.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to develop them, especially in the military and security fields, in addition to cooperation in training security forces, as well as conducting special exercises between the Iraqi and Italian air forces, and between the two special forces branches of the two countries, capacity building, and developing the training curriculum.
The security achievements made by Iraq were also discussed, which resulted in tightening the noose on the remaining terrorist elements, whose end is very near.
The attendees stressed the importance of building bilateral security relations in accordance with memoranda of understanding within the constitutional and legal framework and in a manner that preserves Iraq’s sovereignty, independence and security.
For his part, the Italian Joint Operations Commander praised the Iraqi security forces and their progress in security work, stressing his country’s keenness to continue developing relations between Iraq and Italy in a way that serves common interests.
