
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards seized an Israeli-linked cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, days after Tehran warned it would retaliate for an Israeli strike on its Syria consulate. Iran’s vowed revenge on Israel is, however, likely to be “limited” as it has few military options, University of Birmingham Professor of American Studies Scott Lucas told FRANCE 24. “Iranians are acting out of weakness, not strength … Iran could try to expand these attacks in the region to show they’re tough but then they might get punched in the nose in return”, he said.
