Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani strongly condemned the raids launched by Israel at dawn today on areas in the Syrian Aleppo Governorate, which led to casualties among the Syrian army and civilians.
Kanaani expressed his sympathy with the Syrian government and people.
He said, “These attacks constitute a violation of international laws and conventions, a violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a serious threat to regional and international peace and security.”
He stressed the need for “the international community and the UN Security Council to take deterrent measures and make the Zionist entity bear responsibility.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman continued: “The Zionist entity’s raids were consistent and simultaneous with attacks launched by terrorist groups spread in Syria. This is evidence of Israel’s support for these terrorist groups and movements present in Syria.”
Kanaani stressed that “the usurping Zionist entity was defeated in the Gaza Strip and its affairs were exposed.”
He said: “The brutal attacks on Syria are a desperate and cowardly attempt to cover up the crisis and failure that the entity suffered in front of the Palestinian people and their resistance groups.”
