Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani denounced the Zionist entity’s accusations against the employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza, and the support of some Western countries for these accusations.
Iranian Tasnim News Agency reported that Kanaani condemned the accusations leveled by the Zionist entity against some employees of UNRWA (the Palestinian Relief and Works Agency for the Near East), and considered it another evil act in addition to the inhumane practices carried out by the “Zionist entity” against the Palestinian people.
Kanaani added that the accusations about a number of UNRWA employees supporting Operation Al-Aqsa Flood are intended only to justify the restrictions practiced by the Zionist entity against international humanitarian organizations working in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and to exonerate the entity of committing an unprecedented crime of genocide, in which about 150 of its employees were killed. International institutions, including UNRWA employees, during the past 113 days.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman also described the decision of 10 countries, most of them Western, to cut off their aid to UNRWA based on the allegations of the Zionist entity against the employees of this humanitarian agency, as regrettable, and said that what they did means accepting the allegations of the criminal entity accused of exterminating the Palestinians at the International Court of Justice.
He continued, “Exerting pressure and restrictions on UNRWA’s humanitarian activities or preventing the sending of humanitarian aid to people living in difficult war conditions and under the actual threat of genocide is a declaration of confidence in the story of a war criminal accused of genocide.”
Kanaani explained that it was appropriate for these countries, instead of announcing the suspension of their aid to UNRWA, to stop their military aid and political support for the Zionist entity and its criminal leaders.
He pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran calls on all free countries and peoples, especially Islamic countries, to stand against this clear injustice and to make every effort to meet the needs of the oppressed people within the framework of the final statement of the recent emergency meeting of leaders of Islamic countries, to thwart this inhumane act, which has no purpose other than Imposing forced displacement and defeating the will of the people in the Gaza Strip.
10 countries announced the suspension of funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip, following Israel’s accusation that its employees participated in the attack on October 7th.
