Baghdad – WAA
The Federal Integrity Commission announced today, Sunday, the issuance of a decision in person to sentence the Director General of the Muthanna Health Department to severe imprisonment, while indicating that the accused caused intentional damage to public funds amounting to (6) billion dinars..
A statement by the commission, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “the Muthanna Criminal Court issued an in-person ruling ordering severe imprisonment against the former Director-General of Muthanna Health,” indicating that “the ruling was issued based on the provisions of Article (340) of the Penal Code; for intentionally causing harm to the funds or interests of the entity in which he works.”“.
He added, “The damage to public funds resulted from the Ministry of Health equipping the Muthanna Health Department with 175,000 SIBA masks, based on the department’s letter signed by the convict, which included the governorate’s Health Department’s need for these masks.”
He pointed out that “the number that was prepared turned out to be more than the actual need, as most of these materials were not used, which caused damage to public funds amounting to 6 billion dinars.”
He pointed out that “the court, after reviewing the evidence obtained in the case, including the statements of the legal representative of the Muthanna Health Department, reached sufficient conviction of the defendant’s negligence, and issued the ruling against him; based on the requirements of the judicial article,” indicating that “the case was unified with two other cases that were submitted by two members of the House of Representatives.”
